Three direct health care practices in Seattle, Qliance, Anchor Medical Clinic and Guardian Family Care have signed up to be listed on PriceDoc (http://www.pricedoc.com/). PriceDoc is a new Seattle-based website that connects cash-paying patients to health care providers who offer the services they need.
“Our mission of helping people find quality healthcare at an affordable price coincides with what practices like Qliance, Anchor Medical Clinic and Guardian Family Care are doing here in Seattle,” says Patrick Bradley, President and COO of PriceDoc.
Direct health care practices, also called retainer medical practices, are on the rise across the country. In a direct practice, a health care provider charges a patient a set fee for all primary care services provided in their office, regardless of the number of visits. Patients pay a monthly fee and no insurance plan is involved, according to the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner.
For patients who prefer to pay by the visit, many direct health care practices also offer a Single Care Option for episodic treatment, which includes office visits and physicals.
“Operating a direct health care practice allows my office to offer primary care at an affordable price,” says Dr. Heidi S. Rendall of Anchor Medical Clinic. “But it also gives me and my staff the time and flexibility to provide the patient-focused health care that today’s health care delivery system has derailed.”
“People who don’t have insurance, or people whose insurance doesn’t offer them full coverage, can find the basic health care they need at an affordable price,” says Bradley. “Visiting a direct health care practice is just one of the opportunities available to lower health care expenditures. PriceDoc’s goal is to help make all affordable options more accessible and transparent to patients.”
PriceDoc allows patients to compare the credentials, services, and prices of over 500 Seattle-area doctors, dentists, clinics, and other healthcare professionals. Patients search by procedure and then click to reserve the price posted by the provider who is the best fit for them.
The Puget Sound area is the first region where PriceDoc is being offered, with planned expansion nationwide during the 4th quarter of this year.
